UPDATE STOCK SUNDAY WEEKLY - only doing small numbers to help preserve the strain in New Zealand. These incredible insects have been utilised to make silk for 1000's of years overseas and have been in NZ since the 1800's believe it or not. They are also an incredible food source. Enjoy!
NOTE now raised on fresh mulberry leaves - Need to feed leaves if growing on or keeping for extended period! Leaves listed for sale here too. The chow diet can be used for hatching eggs but once feed leaves it is very hard to go back to chow. Can switch from chow to leaves at any stage though.

FOOD - Mulberry leaves fresh once daily or even better twice. Small amount often is ideal. Fresh leaves are available and can be kept in the fridge for at least a week.
NEW FOOD iNZect Chow available (only suitable for feeding/hatching your own eggs as the live silkworms are now raised on fresh leaves from 27.10.2024 and must stay on leaves)
- 100g Chow should be enough to raise 25 silkworms if rationed - otherwise may have to buy more. Supplied as a powder needs mixing with water and microwaving to form a gel. Instructions below at bottom of this page.
PLEASE NOTE: will need to feed silkworms out within a day or three as only enough food for shipping supplied. Or purchase some leaves!!
SILKWORMS are an incredibly nutritious feeder insect, high in calcium and full of nutrient dense mulberry they really are a great addition to any diet. Variety is always key. Easily digestible too so can feed reasonable sizes to young animals. Any questions please ask.
Feed out to reptiles, bird or frogs asap. Otherwise need mulberry leaves or purchase the food.
